What is Goat Sand Volleyball?
Community Volleyball is one inclusive league open to all skill levels. It’s built around fun, connection, and easygoing competition, with weekly games and an energetic, social atmosphere. You don’t need to be an expert — just ready to play, meet people, and have a great time on the sand.
What’s the overall vibe?
Goat Sand Volleyball is a social-first league — not a hardcore club:
Inclusive and welcomingHigh-energy courts
A great way to meet people, stay active, and grab food when hunger strikes.
Play for fun, fitness, competition, or all three — it’s totally up to you. Competitive tournaments are optional.
Are there different skill divisions?
No — there’s just one Volleyball League.
We’ve removed skill-based divisions to keep things simple, welcoming, and social. Everyone plays together, and for those who want more competition, single day tournaments are offered three times a year: May, July, & September. How long is a season?
Each session, I-III, runs for 6 weeks with weekly games.
Teams that sign up for the full season play across all three sessions. Is there a playoff or championship at the end of the session?
No, our league is all about six weeks of fun gameplay and connection. We don’t have playoffs or championships at the end of the session. However, we do offer three optional competitive tournaments per location for those looking for a more intense experience. These tournaments have limited spots and require a separate registration fee, and they include epic prizes for the winners!

Can I play if I don’t have a team?
Yes! You’re welcome to join even if you don’t have a full team.
When registering, select the Free Agent option. You’ll be placed on a Goat Getters Team — a team made up of players who signed up individually.
While placement depends on overall registration numbers, we work hard to make sure everyone who wants to play has the opportunity.I'm nervous; I haven't played in years. Is this league for me?
Absolutely! Goat Sand Volleyball is all about fun, connection, and a relaxed, social vibe. We welcome all skill levels, so there’s no need to worry about expertise. Whether you're returning to the sport or trying it out for the first time, you'll feel right at home. If you’re flying solo, you can sign up as a free agent and join our Goat Getters teams, so you’ll still get to meet new people and have a great time. And of course, coming with a team is always a fantastic option too!
What times are weekly games?
Weekday Games (Monday–Friday):
Games start no earlier than 6:00 PM, with the last game scheduled as close to 9:00 PM as possible. Exact times depend on the number of teams in the league.Sunday Games:
Games start in the afternoon around 3:00 PM, with the last game as close to 9:00 PM as possible. Exact times depend on the number of teams in the league. What should I bring to the game?
Sunscreen (especially for daytime games)
Sunglasses and/or a hat for sun protection
Water bottle to stay hydrated (and enjoy the volleyball game night drink specials and shareable items at The Goat, our on-site restaurant)
A sweat rag if needed
We’ll provide volleyballs and nets at the venue. If your team prefers to use a personal volleyball, both teams must agree before the match starts.
How many players can be on a Goat Sand Volleyball league team?
Teams can have 4–8 players on their roster.
Matches can be played 4v4, 5v5, or 6v6, depending on how many players are present that night. Before each match, both teams should quickly confirm which format they’ll be playing so everything is fair and runs smoothly.
If a team has extra players, rotations are encouraged so everyone gets time on the court. What if we’re short players for one week?
League games still happen.
If a team has fewer players, both teams should agree on a matching format (4v4, 5v5, or 6v6) before the match begins. The team with extra players can rotate players in to keep things fair and fun.
Teams are responsible for managing their own attendance and substitutions — matches are not rescheduled due to missing players. What is a Goat Getters Team?
Goat Getters Teams are made up of players who signed up as free agents (individual players).
Players may change session to session
Attendance can vary week to week
The focus is on playing, meeting people, and having fun
Once registration closes and the team is formed, a captain will be appointed from the group of free agents, ensuring smooth communication and coordination. Goat Getters Teams are scheduled and treated just like any other team.

How are matches scored?
We use rally scoring, which means a point is awarded on every rally — no matter who served. This keeps games moving and energy high.
Matches are played best of three sets, with each set going to 21 points. You must win by at least two points. To keep things on schedule, each set has a 25-point cap, so the first team to reach 25 wins the set, even if it’s by one point.
This format keeps matches competitive, fast-paced, and fun to watch.
Each match has a 50-minute time cap to keep the league running on schedule. If time expires during a set, the team leading at that moment wins the set. If the score is tied when time expires, the next point wins the set. If teams are tied one set to one and a third set cannot be completed before time runs out, the match winner will be determined by a coin toss between team captains.
Are there gender requirements to play?
Volleyball Leagues — No.Goat Sand Volleyball leagues do not have any gender-based requirements. Teams can be made up of any combination of players. The focus is on having fun, playing together, and keeping the league inclusive and welcoming for everyone.
Competitive Tournaments — Yes.Our optional competitive tournaments follow a 6v6 format with gender requirementsMinimum 4 players are required to start the match.Teams with 4 players must have a minimum of one womanTeams with 5-6 players must have a minimum of two women
What is the policy on guest players or substitutes?
Each team can have up to eight players on their roster. Once the registration deadline passes, that roster is final. This means all substitutes must be listed and have their registration forms, including waivers, completed by that deadline. No additional players can be added after that point.
What is the weather policy? Are games cancelled or rescheduled?
Game ReschedulesGames are not cancelled due to weather. If a game needs to be moved for any reason, team captains must coordinate the reschedule. Both captains must agree on a new date and time before the originally scheduled game start time. Captains can connect via the contact list in your welcome email or the LeagueApps captain chat.Once agreed, one captain submits, and the other accepts the reschedule in LeagueApps to make it official.Important: If a new date and time cannot be agreed upon before the game starts, the game is considered canceled, and the teams are disqualified from scheduling a make-up game.
Make-Up GamesWe have an open court policy — any court not being used for a scheduled match is available for make-up games.
