Brooks Forsyth is an American musician and songwriter from Boone, North Carolina. Forsyth's musical style encompasses a variety of genres, particularly within Americana: folk, country blues, bluegrass, and roots-rock; along with components of Jazz and Contemporary Rock. He has a large repertoire of original songs and a versatile guitar style consisting of both flatpicking and finger-picking. Throughout the last ten years he has performed solo as well as with a variation of musical ensembles across the U.S.A.

In July 2016, Forsyth embarked on his first national tour across the U.S. promoting his second solo album "On the Lam and Lonesome" recorded at Grenville Art Recording Studio in Boone, NC. Following his first solo release "Back in Cackalacky" in January 2015 also recorded at Grenville Art Recording, both albums have garnered attention on international radio. They are both available on iTunes and Spotify, among other digital distributors.

He is a founding member, lead singer, songwriter, and guitarist of the North Carolina band The Major Sevens. In September 2008, the band released their first studio album entitled "Goodbye Baby", which initiated the growth of a strong regional following. Soon thereafter, they began to see their music disseminate across the state. This expansion allowed them to be featured in various notable entertainment outlets, some including Lincoln Theatre (Raleigh, NC), Shakori Hills Grassroots Festival (Pittsboro, NC), WNCW radio (Spindale, NC), and Fox 8 News (High Point, NC). Forsyth and revolving band members have intermittently traveled portions of the Southeast, playing as far south as The Green Parrot (Key West, FLA). They have opened for acts such as Pokey Lafarge, Horse Feathers, and Acoustic Syndicate.

In 2010, in conjunction with MusicFest n' Sugar Grove, Forsyth and other band members were invited to a festival press conference where they were given the chance to play for and with Doc Watson. After hearing the band's rendition of Duke Ellington's "Don't Mean A Thing", Doc exclaimed "Ah, country jazz!"

Since 2012, The Major Sevens have performed a considerable amount in the piedmont region of NC They frequently provide outdoor/lobby music for Memorial Hall in Chapel Hill, NC. There they have played before acts such as Lyle Lovett, Bela Fleck, Chris Thile and The Punch Brothers, and the Carolina Chocolate Drops. In 2013, they played for the Global Southern Intiatives Conference at UNC Chapel Hill.

Vanessa Darien is a hard-bitten lyricist with a flare for Americana Folklore. But Americana is not just an imagined theme for Vanessa, but something she has been strongly rooted in since a young age. Hailing from Weatherford, TX, Vanessa was raised in a home which also functioned as her father John's machine shop; it was in this shop Vanessa would become well versed in some of the finest American Roots music. From a junkyard of rusted cars, and a cast of characters both eclectic and eccentric, this Southern upbringing would lay the foundation for Vanessa's future in songwriting.

Vanessa has spent the past several years playing across Texas, from dusty beer joints to theater venues and everywhere in-between. In her travels, she has shared the stage with many artists including Uncle Lucius, Mike McClure, John Fullbright, Ian Moore, Cody Canada & The Departed, and Johnathan Tyler.

Apart from solo writing and works, Vanessa has also established many musical friendships and collaborations, with writing partners Joey Green, Maren Morris, Steven Cooper, and Ryan Michael of The Roomsounds. With a tight-knit group of musicians, and the help of producer/musician Beau Patrick Bedford, Vanessa has just completed a 6 song EP of new material entitled "Silent Sparrow" which was released June 3rd, 2014.

As a guitarist from the age of 13, Jay Brewer has had a musical past of playing in various bands, writing and performing soul, funk and jazz. This period allowed him to learn different musical styles, ranging from bossa nova to hip hop to flamenco. This helped broaden his knowledge of harmony, melody and rhythm for use in his own material.

His production combines this with his more recent love for electronic music, notably artists like Bonobo, Kaytranada and Sam Gellaitry. Wide sweeping synths fused with orchestral instrumentation and his soulful guitar style creates a blend of rich harmonies and delicate melodies. At the core are playful drum grooves and bass lines overlaid by intricate percussion. Merging these elements, Melliflux aims to create a deep and immersive listening experience.

Four years.

Four original albums.

Thousands of shows around the country.

Three years after picking up a guitar in a college dorm room, Anthony Mossburg left the stability of a full-time job to chase after the only thing that made him feel alive; music.

What followed over the next four years was a series of accolades, achievements, risks, near-misses, and setbacks that indefinitely shaped him as an artist and a person. With several bootstrap tours and three independent albums under his belt, Anthony is now living in Columbus, Ohio, and is headlining shows around the country.

His breakthrough song, “Whiskey and Wine”, introduced a new sound to his avid fanbase, and shed a light into his evolution as an artist. The hard work and risks didn’t go unnoticed. Early in 2015, the song broke into the Top 10 on coveted iTunes Singer/Songwriter category.

Now, he is squaring his sights on introducing his soulful voice, gutsy lyrics, and melodic tones into a new direction that will push his creative talent like never before. This is just the beginning.

“What kind of sound could fill this silence?” George Barrie sang in the midst of a  Brothers Drake concert headlined by his namesake band. It didn’t take long for the trio of players backing the singer/guitarist to craft a response, locking into a blues-rock swing awash in jazzy keyboard fills, rubbery bass and steady, rhythmic drumming.

Barrie, a longtime member of soul/funk crew MojoFlo, stepped out on his own for this EP release show (a full-length is currently in process and should see daylight sometime next year), though the quartet’s songs tended to avoid solitude, instead tracing the romantic battles between would-be and former lovers. Over the course of the evening, the frontman challenged a paramour to do their worst (“Cause your worst is still better than all the rest”), described a relationship as a trial-worthy offense (“This love’s a crime of the first degree”) and soaked up the words “I love you” like so much wine on the faith-restoring “I Believe.”

Barrie will be joining us as a solo acoustic artist, and we are thrilled to have him.

mt. juliet | live music | benjamin brown

Benjamin Brown is a singer/songwriter now living in Nashville, Tennessee.

He is a self-taught guitarist who is mainly inspired by the musicians from the aspiring immersion of blues artists in the early part of the 20th Century.

Born in Chicago, his family traveled the country during his childhood, where they ultimately settled in rural areas of Northern California. At age 16, soon after Ben found his love for guitar, he suffered an accident leaving him with three quarters of a ring finger on his right hand – what he now uses for the signature beat you hear in most of his music.

When Ben began performing, he wowed audiences at local public events and assemblies. He moved to Berkeley when he was 19 where he and his brother formed a simple, yet empowering band named Devil said Maybe - with whom he performed around the Bay Area for 2 years. Since then, his music has mellowed, singing and playing as a solo artist with a smoky draw, influenced by artists in the likes of Mississippi Fred McDowell, Howlin' Wolf, Blind Willie Johnson, Bob Dylan, Neil Young, The Doors and The Rolling Stones (to name a few). His lyrics suggest a sense of salvation, as he writes about triumphing a ruthless evil. However, his seemingly melancholy sound, when listened to closely, encourages an uplifting message.

You can find this rugged bluesman, with his 1951 vintage Gibson cutaway in hand and a tattered notebook of lyrics at foot, at a plethora of venues in San Francisco and surrounding areas.

Nate McDonough hails from the city of Springfield, Ohio. Some of Nate's earliest memories are of sitting at the feet of his father and listening to him play guitar, while his mother sang along to songs by John Denver. At age 13, Nate picked up a guitar, and was headlining his own shows by the age of 15. Nate was writing and recording his own original material, which eventually led to his solo album release, "New Day". The album was met with critical acclaim, comparing Nate's working-class, everyman-style lyrics to a 'southern Bruce Springsteen', and hailing him as 'the next legend to light up the music scene'. The positive reception of Nate's solo material earned him regional airplay for the songs "New Day" and 'She's Down", and opening slots touring across the country for various national acts.

mt. juliet | live music | jd shelburne

In the last few years, JD Shelburne has become one of Kentucky’s fastest rising stars, with album credits, countless shows, a loyal fan base, charity work that has raised thousands of dollars and a list full of accolades that sets Shelburne apart from the rest. Country Artist JD Shelburne grew up on a tobacco farm in Taylorsville, KY, a tiny town southeast of the Ohio River near Louisville KY. At age 19, he found a guitar after the death of his grandmother and began learning to play and sing on his own. By his sophomore year of college, he had found a few gigs at some local bars in the Louisville/Lexington, KY area and developed a fan-base that eventually landed him on some of the biggest stages in the business, opening for some of the nation’s hottest stars. Eventually, Shelburne was adding original songs into the set mix, in addition to producing songs of his own material.

In 2002, Kentucky fell in love at first sight with Shelburne, then college student/ small-town country boy with a wide smile, natural singing voice and a love of faith, family and his hometown of Taylorsville, KY. But that small-town image is merely a fond memory now that he has moved on to Nashville down the path to music stardom.

Now find him soaking up the music scene, touring cities, building a fan-base and celebrating a decade of success playing venues all across the southeast trying to get his big break. Today he’s among the most hard working and relevant country singers in the business. They say Nashville doesn’t work that way anymore – that talented musicians with very few connections don’t stand a chance. But Shelburne proved that Music City’s engine still runs off of talent and persistent driven antics. Critics find him credible. Fans pack his shows. Venues strive to book him. There are very few new artists recording songs today about whom that can be said.

During his whirlwind career explosion, he has performed with over 50 national acts ranging from stars such as Montgomery Gentry, Craig Morgan, Jamey Johnson, Kellie Pickler, Steve Wariner to Clay Walker and Johnny Lee, performed at some of the region’s most famous venues such as the Historic Ryman Auditorium, Rupp Arena, Murphy Center Arena, KFC Yum Center, Freedom Hall, Churchill Downs and Old Cardinal Stadium which recently drew the Kentucky State Fair’s largest crowd of the concert series. Shelburne performed “God Bless America” prior to the 2016 Quaker State 400 NASCAR race at Kentucky Speedway to over 100,000 attendees. He has also been featured in Country Weekly Magazine, Kentucky Alumni Magazine, Kentucky Monthly Magazine amongst many other national publications including the Huffington Post. murfreesboro | live music | scott honaker & jason jordan

From an early age, Scott Honaker was inspired and surrounded by music. Music was always a part of the family. Growing up in St. Albans, West Virginia, Scott is the youngest of 4 kids. Scott first began singing along with his dad’s guitar playing and singing. Throughout his school days, Scott began singing in the choir at school, and in school plays. A few piano lessons early on would help later on with his piano playing.

Scott picked up the guitar at 13 and with the help of his dad, taught himself how to play. Learning songs from Marty Robbins, Vince Gill, Ricky Skaggs, and Buck Owens all the way to learning songs by bands like Poison, The Beatles, Deep Purple. Scott began honing his singing and playing skills. Scott learned to play drums and percussion while performing in his high school band. Scott also performed in theater productions during his high school years as a vocalist and actor in shows such as “Showboat”, “Richard the III” and Rogers and Hammerstein’s “Cinderella”.

Scott joined his first band, Altar Image, at age 19, as lead singer, rhythm guitarist, and keyboard player. After five years, and three CD’s, the band disbanded. Scott began the journey to the next chapter.

While visiting Nashville, a friend’s encouragement to meet with his songwriter friends, started the wheels turning on becoming a songwriter. Scott later co-wrote 3 songs with legendary songwriter Don Goodman, as well as writing with hit songwriter, Becky Hobbs. In November of 2003, Scott recorded his first EP demo CD with the songs “Comin’ Home” and “The Love That Never Returns” to name a few. Six months later, in 2004, Scott and is wife Tara moved from WV to Nashville. Scott has been a regular at many writers’ rounds including ones at the Commodore Lounge, Broken Spoke, Douglas Corner, and the world famous Bluebird Café.

Scott wrote and co-wrote a collection of songs over the next few years that became his debut CD, “Who Made the Road” in 2009. The CD was recorded and produced entirely by Scott at his home in Mt, Juliet, and TN. Scott plays guitars, bass, mandolin, piano, drums, and sings all vocals on the disc.

In 2013, Scott joined a group of friends as part of Weaver Country Band, backing up Florida native and up and coming country artist, Ryan Weaver by playing guitar, keyboards, banjo, and singing background vocals. Scott has been fortunate enough to play many shows with Ryan Weaver including 2014 CMA Music Festival in Nashville, 2013 Tootsies Birthday Bash, and Operation Troop Aid Block Party on Broadway in Downtown Nashville.

Scott has been nominated for the 2015 Song of the Year at the New Country Music Awards in Nashville for his song, “The Love That Never Returns”, and is nominated for the 2015 Indieville TV Award for Guitar Artist of the Year.

Scott's new CD release, "Four On The Floor", became available in early summer 2015 on iTunes and has been featured on Internet radio stations such as Music Road Radio, Countrykanalen Sweden, Renegade Radio Nashville, Hamilton Radio in Australia, and The Country Countdown with Suzy. These great folks have helped share his music all across the globe. Songs like ”Redneck GPS”, “The Way We Roll”, and “Feel It” and just the beginning of the next chapter in Scott’s musical releases as a singer/songwriter/musician.Scott once again is playing all instruments, and singing all vocals on this CD as well.

louisville | live music | jd shelburne

His debut music video “Farmboy” gained him thousands of new fans by airing on the TNN Top Ten Countdown nationwide on Heartland TV network and ZUUS Country Network.

Cole & Amanda met in Feb. 2014 and soon became inseparable playing almost every show together from then on out. In 2016 The Lovers was formed. After serving at multiple different restaurants and never being satisfied, she's now a full time musician touring most of the year, and playing in Nashville when back in town. In addition to performing she also books and manages The Lovers duo.

"Her music stands out among most in the sense that it's music with passion, soul and written from personal experience. With a down-to-earth sensibility and a smooth, sweet voice, Amanda's style blends perfectly with that of Cole Vosbury, a fellow artist who also heard Nashville calling his name."

In 2017, Caleb played the Grand Ole Opry preshow in Nashville. As well as the Tailgate party at AT&T Stadium in Dallas, Texas. Caleb was nominated for best Americana and roots musician as well as best acoustic act in 2018 by the Arkansas Country Music Awards. Caleb Ryan Martin has, according to one reviewer, "a lonesome voice and rhythm that can at times invoke a lonesome ramblin' man sound, a voice that will haunt you with some type of mysterious mountain holler sound, like a banshee singing in the nether woods." Caleb Ryan Martin, an acoustic bluegrass, folk and roots musician hailing from the hills of Tennessee. Looking like a man from leaner and meaner times, Caleb has traveled and played music all across the United States, singing with expressive vocals, playing guitar, and frailing the banjo providing people with melodic medicine. Caleb currently averages 200 shows a year, with no sign of slowing down.
